Extreme Adventure Day

  •       Remote canyons above 7000 feet in altitude with very few descents, secluded amidst staggering ponderosa pines and untrailed terrain. This is an impressive day in the outdoors for most of the population, achieving two amazing, physically-demanding canyons in one day.

This is our only adventure series trip with prerequisites. We built in a mandatory pre-trip rappel/ascending clinic the evening before (5 p.m. to 7 p.m.) so our canyon day can maximize daylight and your epic nature. Descending a remote waterfall canyon twisting through the upper Navajo layers of the Kolob plateau above Zion is just the beginning, prepping us for our 425-foot roped ascent/escape route through a second canyon. This is an intense, humbling day, asking much of you both physically and mentally.

    • No technical rope experience required (but it really helps)
    • Recommended for confident, athletic outdoor enthusiasts
    • Age 16 or older recommended
    • Group size 6 or less
    • Pre-trip ground school the day prior to ensure competence on single-line rappel and fixed rope ascending

Where there is a will, there is a way.

      • One-hour backcountry approach drive to private canyon access
      • 30-minute, 1000 foot descent approach hike along thin game trails
      • An array of 9 - 10 rappels for 400 feet of waterfall rappelling
      • Several circuitous downclimbs
      • 25, 35, 40, 80, and 220 foot roped climbs for our big wall escape
      • Let's not forget the hike out! We hike one more mile, climbing 1000 vertical feet back to the Land Cruiser.

The physical and technical nature of this trip requires a minimum level of competency with rope work for rappelling and ascending. To prepare you appropriately, we have designed a 2-3 hour ground school, which we run the evening prior to the course. It is possible to arrange the ground school at another time upon request, but this training is mandatory. During ground school, we cover basic gear up, single line rappel, and ascending. With these skill sets in place, we stand at a strong advantage for a great day in the canyon.
