Winter Canyon Adventure Day

  • The Winter Canyon Adventure Day is a cross between our half-day and full-day canyoneering adventures. Snowy winter conditions make for slow travel through the canyons, which makes even short canyon adventures longer in duration than a half-day. Additionally the shorter winter days do not allow enough time for longer, full-day canyon descents. The Winter Canyon Adventure Day is approximately 5-7 hours in duration and is offered December 1st through the end of February.

  • No experience required. Ages 10 and older

  • As winter conditions vary across the many elevations of the Zion area, so does the accessibility of the canyons, and the experiences within the canyon walls. The Winter Canyon Adventure day will include some of the same experiences as our regular half and full day adventures such as:
    • 20-60 minutes of hiking
    • Downclimbing narrow, twisted slots
    • A series of rappels ranging anywhere from 20-80 feet in length

Depending upon recent weather, and canyon location, the Winter Canyon Adventure Day may also include unique canyon experiences that cannot be had at any other time of the year. Including:
      • Hiking through snow
      • Discovering beautiful ice formations
      • Navigating over and through ice-covered pools (with a drysuit of course!)
  • We will provide all the necessary technical equipment for your trip but we recommend that you bring:
      • 2 liters of water/person
      • Comfortable closed toe shoes
      • Lunch and snacks
      • Winter hat and gloves
      • Appropriate clothing: This can vary greatly depending on the day. Check the weather before your trip, and call us at the shop for recommendations. However, winter temperatures can be as low as the mid 20s (F) in the canyon, so pack plenty of warm, synthetic layers for your upper and lower body.
      • Meet for the trip at Zion Adventure Company at 36 Lion Blvd., across from the Quality Inn.
      • 7 days/week, winter-season
      • Trips begins at 8:00 am (Mountain Daylight Time)
