Shannon Williams

shannonI grew up in the middle of a giant city commonly referred to as Dallas, Texas. I practically lived in our huge backyard. I played sports and tagged along with my older brothers as much as possible, racing bicycles in the cul-de-sac and digging in the dirt. The first time I moved was when I went off to college. I went to Sam Houston State University because I couldn't decide if I wanted to be a crime scene investigator or videographer and they had solid programs for both. I ended up miserable studying forensic chemistry and switched to broadcast production. I discovered that our school had a climbing wall and ended up spending all my free time there. I then started going on trips with the outdoors program and then eventually worked for them first at the climbing wall, then the challenge course, and finally leading trips. I already loved the outdoors but I finally had space to truly experience it.

When I was graduating and looking for a big kid job I decided I was going to combine my love of the outdoors and passion for capturing it. While job searching I stumbled upon Zion Adventure Company. Soon I was headed to a state I had only seen in photographs and heard stories of. I never thought I would be so excited to leave the lone star state. I may not have a camera in my hand everyday but I am living surrounded by nature and people wanting to explore every bit of it. How could I not be happy with Zion as my backyard?
